“The topic of digital identities could have been solved in a great way via the paydirekt platform”- Interview with Dr. Andreas Windisch (asquared) and Ralf Keuper (Bankstil).
Post
The strategic importance of digital identities has come into focus in recent months. An example of this is the launch of the data and login alliances Verimi and netID, YES and providers of blockchain-based solutions such as Blockchain Helix and Idento.one. The current state, the lack of a so-called identity layer, a “meta-login” for the Internet, in the opinion of many market observers, plays into the hands of the big Internet companies (Google Amazon, facebook, Apple – GAFA). Once logged in there is hardly any escape (lock-in effect) – the habituation effect and the comfort do the rest. Could the e-identity systems, i.a. based on the eID functionality of the new german identity card, be an alternative? Is blockchain a suitable technology for managing digital identities? Can users regain their sovereignty over their data? Does the current Facebook scandal increase the sensitivity of users to the value and vulnerability of their data? What would have to be changed in terms of technology and organization, which conditions still need to be created? What role could paydirekt play? What options are left for the banks?
I gave answers to these and other questions in an interview with Ralf Keuper from the Bankstil blog.
